Hey friends, The day is here. My debut book, The Inner Compass, is now available. The Kindle and paperback versions are up today, while the audiobook will be up later this week. The big button below will take you to the book’s Amazon page where you can order it right away: Of all the available formats, I recommend that you get the paperback edition of the book. There are 2 main reasons for this: (1) It’s a highly visual book, and (2) I’ve (meticulously) formatted the book to be read in physical form. Let’s start with #1. This book contains ~80 illustrations, each of which supplement and guide the whole narrative. There are diagrams, metaphors, and even entire illustrated stories in the book, and simply put, they look (and feel) great on paper: As for reason #2, I’ve formatted this book in a way where the book’s cadence is best experienced by holding and flipping each page. For example, I’ve resized many drawings so that they’re placed in an ideal position on a given page. I’ve moved text around so it shows up in the right place in relation to certain illustrations. These are things you may not consciously notice as a reader, but they have been carefully designed on my end so it creates a great experience for you. With that said, if you’re eager to read it immediately, then you can grab the Kindle version while you wait for the paperback to arrive. I like getting multiple formats for books I'll know I want to revisit, so if you think The Inner Compass will meet that criteria for you, then getting the physical version will help with that =). Also, as I mentioned last week, I’m giving away a bonus booklet called "A Month of Reflections" for anyone who orders The Inner Compass. For the first time ever, I’ve selected 30 excerpts of my work and compiled them into a digital booklet. Each excerpt will serve as a daily meditation to recalibrate your inner compass and act as a reflective start to your day. To get access to this booklet, just order The Inner Compass in any format, take a screenshot of the order receipt, and hit reply to this email (with the screenshot in it) to let me know. I’ll send the booklet to you when I get around to checking my messages. I have a lot more to say on the topic of trusting yourself, but for now, I’ll leave it up to The Inner Compass to do that for me. I don’t know where this book is headed or what its trajectory will be, but here’s one thing I do know: If you’ve been feeling a bit lost, unsure of where things are headed, or a bit overwhelmed by uncertainty, then there’s a reason this book is available to you now. While I can’t promise that your path will be 100% clear by the time you finish it, I do believe that you’ll feel empowered to continue moving forward with conviction. So much of life is about trusting your ability to navigate it, and that very trust is what I’m aiming to build with this book. Since the world will always be uncertain, it’s better to embrace that fact instead of fearing it. And given that curiosity is being thankful that you don’t know everything, that very sense of gratitude for the unknown is what will make life a beautiful ride. Thank you for being a part of this ride with me, and for sharing your experiences along the way. Enjoy The Inner Compass, and I hope that reading it will provide you with the same clarity I had while writing it. See you within the pages, Lawrence Yeo |
Illustrated stories on the human condition.
Hey friends, I arrived in Korea earlier this week and the jet lag has been particularly rough this time around. With that said, I’m excited to be here visiting my parents over the next 2 months and spending quality time with them. I’m also looking to meet readers that live here, so if that’s you, please hit reply and let me know. I’m in the midst of some big writing projects, one of which is a long-form post on ambition. It’s been a while since I published a big post on the site (given that I...
Hey friends, Before getting into today’s new post, I have a quick announcement. Ever since I released The Inner Compass, I’ve received many messages that are some variant of this question: Will the book be available in India? The problem with self-publishing a book is that it’s hard to get print editions to various geographical markets without making it expensive to do so. For example, More To That has a substantial readership in India, which means that there are many people there that are...
Hey friends, I recently shared that The Inner Compass surpassed 2,000 copies sold in just over a month, which is an awesome start for a self-published book: Lawrence Yeo @moretothat Book sales update: 2,000+ copies sold in just over a month! Based on what I know about self-publishing, this is a very strong start. Thank you for the support. *Note: The paperback is 1.5x more expensive than the ebook, yet it's sold the most. Curious to see if this continues. 10:58 AM • Aug 25, 2025 4 Retweets 33...
